🧠 Younger adults facing high stroke risk in India
Nearly one in seven stroke patients in India is under the age of 45, according to experts at a recent neuro conclave. This trend was highlighted by data from the ICMR National Stroke Registry Programme and a study in the International Journal of Stroke. Hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and sedentary lifestyles are identified as major risk factors for this younger demographic. Experts noted that nearly 80% of strokes can actually be prevented through proper risk factor control and timely treatment. Early diagnosis and multidisciplinary care are crucial for improving outcomes moving forward.
