health ๐ถ WHO prequalifies new RSV vaccine vial for babies
The World Health Organization has prequalified a multi-dose vial of the RSVpreF vaccine to boost infant protection. This vaccine is being introduced for use in countries supported by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. RSV currently causes over 3.6 million hospitalisations and 100,000 deaths annually in children under five. The maternal vaccine transfers antibodies to the baby, which is recommended for pregnant women from 28 weeks during the third trimester. WHO suggests countries incorporate this maternal vaccine or nirsevimab into their national health programs. ๐ถ
