business π₯ Whisky and rum brands banned by food safety regulator
Indiaβs food safety regulator has banned several popular whisky and rum brands for using artificial flavouring instead of proper ageing. This action targets products from United Spirits and Inbrew Beverages across various states in India. The FSSAI specifically banned brands like Antiquity Blue Whisky and McDowellβs No 1 Rum, effective from late Sunday. These flavourings allow companies to bypass using natural ingredients like molasses or malt for taste. United Spirits has challenged the ban via a writ petition in the Bombay High Court on August 1. π₯
