science ⚛️ Waves slow down quantum energy jumps at Tamkang University
Gravitational and electromagnetic waves were found to suppress excitation transitions in Unruh-DeWitt detectors. Tamkang University researchers performed this analysis using an open quantum system framework. Calculations showed suppression of transitions from the ground state to the first excited state. This offers new insight into how quantum sensors react to warped space-time geometry. The work extends previous studies by considering strong wave interactions.
