Astronomers discovered a hot, water-rich exoplanet orbiting dangerously close to its star. This world, HD 176071 b, is located around 335 light-years away from the star HD 176071. It is about 2.5 times Earth's size, has 8.5 times the mass, and completes an orbit in just 14 hours. Tidal forces are pulling this planet towards a violent encounter with its host star. Researchers used reflected light variations to study its dynamic atmosphere, published on Tuesday, August 25.
