๐ง Water crisis hits drought-stricken Thalavadi hills
Gowri Kuttai has completely dried up due to prolonged lack of rain in Thalavadi hills, causing an acute drinking water crisis. This situation affects the Thalavadi block, home to 68,000 people across 10 panchayats and 118 villages in Erode district. For over a year, the region has seen little to no significant rainfall, with borewells failing even at 800 to 1,000 feet deep. Panchayats are now reliant on tankers, with larger villages needing four to five loads daily. Officials are studying lift irrigation from Moyar, and a proposal is expected soon. ๐ง
