science π°οΈ Voyager 2 gets a lifeline with power-saving fix
Voyager 2 successfully underwent a power-saving maneuver called the βBig Bangβ to extend its mission life. This fix was executed by engineers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, keeping its three science instruments running longer. The maneuver, confirmed on August 4, buys the spacecraft at least another year of operation. Without this, another instrument would have been forced offline before the end of 2026. NASA plans to apply the same procedure to Voyager 1 in the coming months. π
