world π£ US targets Iran's trade routes, partners face heat π¨
The U.S. announced an "economic D-Day" campaign to isolate Iran from the global economy by threatening penalties against enablers. China, which buys about 90% of Iran's oil, and the UAE, a major trade hub, are among the most exposed partners. Bilateral trade between the UAE and Iran was around $28 billion in 2024 before a recent trade suspension. Turkey, Iraq, and India also maintain significant economic ties, though India's trade has recently decreased. These fresh U.S. sanctions could severely disrupt established trade flows with these key nations.
