science π¬ US Lab Wanted China's Super Magnet Tech
A US laboratory, once a leader in superconducting magnets, recently attempted to buy Chinese technology. Specifically, the US Department of Energyβs Brookhaven National Laboratory reached out in May last year. They were interested in purchasing the Chinese-made magnet used in the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider's upgrade. Chinese officials stated this proves their ability to compete globally in advanced science fields. They emphasized spending 13 years developing this cutting-edge magnet to reduce external reliance.
