world π¨ UN committee flags hate speech against Muslims in India
The UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (UNCERD) expressed grave concern over human rights violations in India. Specifically, the committee noted an increase in incidents targeting Bengali-speaking Muslims across the country. This concern was raised during the 11th periodic review on August 26, 2026. UNCERD called on the Indian Government to ensure accountability for hate speech and hate crimes. India's delegation, led by the Solicitor General, rejected these findings during the review.
