health 𧬠tRNA shows promise for genetic disease treatment
New research from the University of Toronto indicates that transfer RNA (tRNA) could be a promising way to treat genetic diseases. Researchers delivered inhalable modified tRNA to mice with cystic fibrosis, demonstrating it was safe and stayed in the lungs for up to 40 days. In an organoid model, the modified tRNA combined with Trikafta was needed to restore protein function. The team plans to move this inhalable tRNA into clinical trials within the next two or three years. They are also testing it for conditions like Duchenne muscular dystrophy and Rett syndrome. π§¬
