The TVK-led government introduced the ₹2,117-crore Chief Minister’s Integrated Urban Development Mission in the 2026-27 Budget. This initiative is set to overhaul Tamil Nadu's cities by 2031, focusing on civic infrastructure and AI governance. The MAWS Department received ₹29,863 crore, an increase from previous budgets, to improve key areas. The mission covers everything from water supply and waste management to urban health and transport. This aims to make Tamil Nadu a national role model for urban living by 2031.
