The Tamil Nadu government introduced an AI-enabled planning approval system and a new rental housing scheme on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. This announcement came from Finance Minister N. Marie Wilson during the State’s Budget for 2026-27. The plan aims to develop one lakh housing units in Chennai over the next seven years, backed by ₹8,852 crore for housing. The SPEED system will integrate CMDA and DTCP for transparent approvals across Tamil Nadu. This initiative will use a Digital Rental Voucher system to help low-income families and youth. 🏡
