๐ Telomere Length Changes in Young Thoroughbred Horses
Telomere dynamics were studied in Thoroughbred mare-foal dyads to understand genomic integrity during rapid growth. The research was conducted at one farm in Ireland, tracking 34 dyads for 12 months starting from birth. Foal relative telomere length increased significantly at three and 12 months, while mare RTL remained unchanged across timepoints. The findings confirm that telomere lengthening occurs in these fast-growing horses. Maternal care style also influenced RTL values, showing higher levels with high MCS mares. ๐
