The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended Delhi High Court Justice V Kameswar Rao for the Chief Justice position at Patna High Court. This recommendation was finalized during a Collegium meeting that took place on August 6th. Justice Rao has extensive experience, having practiced before various high courts and serving as an acting Chief Justice in Karnataka in May 2025. Currently, the Patna High Court operates with 43 judges, falling short of its sanctioned strength of 53 judges. The appointment signals a change in leadership for the Patna High Court's judiciary.
