health ☀️ Sunlight linked to lower blood sugar and diabetes risk
A large UK study suggests that greater sun exposure may be connected to lower blood glucose levels and reduced Type 2 diabetes risk. Researchers analyzed data from 429,368 UK Biobank participants, comparing glucose with UVA radiation levels before their assessments. During winter, each 1 W/m² UVA increase linked to a 0.015 mmol/L blood glucose reduction over two days. Additionally, occasional sun-bed users showed a 14% lower hazard of Type 2 diabetes compared to non-users. Further clinical studies are needed to confirm these mechanisms and find safe exposure levels. ☀️
