𧬠Spaceflight messes with human genes, scientists react
Researchers have identified several human genes negatively impacted by microgravity and weightlessness exposure. This study was conducted by a team at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics. The research found changes in genes linked to cell repair, inflammation, stress defense, and cardiovascular function. This work supports prior findings showing immune genes fail to activate and 90% of genes might change in space. Scientists plan to test if existing medicines can combat these adverse space travel effects.
