๐ฌ Space printing: Heart tissue in orbit!
A Russian bioprinter created human cartilage tissue in orbit back in 2018. This initial experiment was conducted on the International Space Station aboard the Soyuz MS-11 spacecraft. The 2018 tests involved human cartilage and a rodent thyroid gland using the Organ.Aut system. NASA's BioFabrication Facility later achieved a major milestone by printing human heart tissue in May 2024. This research aims to see if microgravity helps create complex biological structures for future cardiac patches.
