π SGLT2 drugs: not all are the same
Six SGLT2 inhibitor drugs share a mechanism but have different approved uses. Dapagliflozin and empagliflozin have indications for heart failure and CKD even without diabetes. Ertugliflozin and bexagliflozin are only approved for glycemic control in T2DM. Sotagliflozin targets heart failure and CKD but lacks a glycemic indication. Clinicians must match the specific labeled indication to the patient, as the amputation warning status also changed.
