science π Scandium boost helps sodium batteries last longer
Researchers successfully enhanced the durability and performance of sodium-ion batteries using a scandium additive. This improvement was tested by a team at Tokyo University of Science in Japan. The study showed capacity retention increased from 19% to 68% with structural doping after 100 cycles. Sodium-ion batteries are gaining traction as a cheaper, safer alternative to lithium-ion tech. Further research is needed, as scandium is currently not ideal for commercial production. π
