βοΈ SC warns: No power/water for waste rule breakers
The Supreme Court has ordered strict waste management compliance, noting the high volume of solid waste generated across the nation. This directive was issued by a bench of Justice SVN Bhatti and Justice NV Anjaria concerning environmental rules. The court specified that bulk waste generators must comply with the SWM Rules, 2026, or face disconnection of electricity or water supply. District collectors must identify all bulk waste generators within six weeks to enforce these new standards. Furthermore, the court mandated the integration of solid waste management into educational curricula for better societal change. ποΈ
