india ๐ณ๏ธ SC to hear plea for standard election manifesto format
The Supreme Court agreed on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, to hear a petition calling for a standard format for political party election manifestos. Petitioner-advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay raised the issue during an oral mentioning before a bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. He argued that manifestos are "vision documents" and should have a uniform, legally enforceable structure for voters. Previously, the petition sought accountability measures from the ECI for unfulfilled promises. The court confirmed it would list the petition for further hearing. ๐ณ๏ธ
