ποΈ SC slams govt for denying benefits to disabled soldiers
The Supreme Court pulled up the Central Government and the defence ministry for contesting appeals from disabled soldiers. This happened after the court cited the 2015 Raksha Mantri Report, which noted many soldiers were denied benefits on technical grounds. Over 270 appeals filed by the government were junked by the court in this ruling. The court stressed that despite recommendations to withdraw such litigation, appeals continued for a long time. The bench ultimately upheld the Entitlement Rules 2008 while criticizing the delay in appeals. ποΈ
