The Supreme Court has mandated that all states must establish Special Investigation Teams (SITs) to investigate suspected fraudulent motor accident compensation claims. This directive follows a case revealing potential large-scale fraud where the same vehicle was allegedly involved in multiple accidents across India. These orders were passed by Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Justice Prasanna B. Varale on August 17. The Court stressed that such fraud stresses companies and forces genuine consumers to pay higher premiums. Insurance companies must forward all fraud-negated cases to the respective SITs for speedy inquiry. π¨
