india 🩺 SC clears Abhishek Banerjee for overseas eye treatment
The Supreme Court granted permission for Abhishek Banerjee to travel abroad for three weeks for eye treatment. This decision overturned the Calcutta High Court's earlier refusal regarding his international movement. The order was handed down on Monday by a bench including CJI Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana. Previously, the High Court had rejected his plea because he wouldn't appear before a medical board in Kolkata. The travel request is connected to conditions imposed on him in a case concerning alleged remarks during the West Bengal Assembly polls.
