Saudi Arabia has officially appointed Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Salem Al-Shehri as the commander of a multinational maritime defence coalition. This alliance aims to safeguard freedom of navigation across the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden. The coalition was established on July 30th by 14 nations, including Bahrain, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. These countries intend to secure vital international trade and energy supply routes in the region. The coalition will meet on August 12-13 to finalize its framework and invite more members. π‘οΈ
