science ๐ญ Rubin Observatory drops massive galaxy view ๐
The NSFโDOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory released its first scientific image featuring over half a million galaxies. This stunning view was captured by the 3.2-gigapixel LSST Camera focusing on the COSMOS field in the Sextans constellation. The image contains over 500,000 galaxies and 50,000 foreground stars, offering a glimpse into the distant universe. Astronomers can now peer billions of years into the past using this data. Future observations will track changes, revealing supernovae and other transient events.
