science π Roman Space Telescope launches to study the universe
The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope has officially launched to investigate the evolving universe and distant worlds. This NASA mission launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on August 30th, named after Dr. Nancy Grace Roman. Roman boasts a field of view 100 times larger than Hubble and will map over a billion galaxies. Scientists hope it will help understand dark energy and discover up to 200,000 exoplanets. The telescope's primary mission is for 5 years, with first science images expected in early 2027. π
