Korean researchers have developed a new recyclable flame-retardant composite that fixes a big industry limitation. The team at KRICT achieved this using a self-reinforced composite fabrication technology in Korea. This breakthrough involves adding a low-cost polyolefin additive to the layers, resulting in improved adhesion by about 40%. The material achieved the top UL-94 V-0 rating while keeping mechanical strength high. Next, the team plans industrial tests and commercialization for next-gen electric vehicles. π
