πͺ Rare Mars Meteorite Dated to 1.2 Billion Years Old
Scientists have determined that a newly found Martian meteorite is 1.27 billion years old, originating from an unsampled source on Mars. Dr. Robert Nicklas and his team at Universities Space Research Association published this in Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta. This finding fills a major gap in Mars' geology between 600 million and 2.4 billion years ago. The meteorite's composition also offers new clues about the early solar system formation. Dylan Seal will continue this research during his postdoctoral fellowship starting in September. π
