health π± Railway stations lack basic amenities, water quality is risky
A new CAG audit revealed alarming issues across 512 inspected railway stations concerning basic amenities. Specifically, E. coli was detected in drinking water at eight stations nationwide. The audit period covered from 2019-20 to 2023-24, finding 458 stations lacked at least one Minimum Essential Amenity. Furthermore, between 36% to 44% of the passenger amenities budget remained unspent during this time. The CAG recommends stricter monitoring and better sanitation to address these persistent problems. π
