science π¬ Quantum heat treatment reshapes MOF glasses
Researchers have developed a new method to reshape metal-organic framework glasses without them decomposing. This was achieved by using the chelating ligand 1,10-phenanthroline as an organic flux and ligand in various systems. The process lowers the glass transition temperature, enabling structural control over porous materials previously difficult to handle. Importantly, this technique prevents magnetic impurities and allows for antiferromagnetic coupling in cobalt-based glasses. This opens doors for creating tailored hybrid glasses with expanded functionalities. π§ͺ
