business ⛽ Qatar pivots from gas giant to buyer
QatarEnergy is reportedly in talks with US producers to secure multi-year LNG deals. This strategic shift is happening because the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked amid the Iran-US war. Iranian strikes in March damaged two LNG trains and a GTL facility at Ras Laffan. This damage reduced Qatar's liquefaction capacity by 17 percent, causing an estimated $20 billion loss. Qatar is now moving from spot cargoes to long-term sourcing to cover supply shortfalls. ⛽
