π©Ί Punjab has highest hypertension rate in India
Punjab currently shows the highest hypertension rate at 40 percent compared to the national average of 35.5 percent. Health Minister Balbir Singh shared this data during the monsoon session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Diabetes prevalence in Punjab is 14.3 percent, placing it fourth nationally, with figures from ICMR-INDIAB. The rising non-communicable diseases are linked to lifestyle changes and increased mental stress. The Health Department suggests these factors are worsening the health situation across the state. π©Ί
