πΎ Parliament boosts funding for co-operative sector
Parliament has passed the NCDC (Amendment) Bill, 2026, with Rajya Sabha giving its approval today. This bill allows the National Co-operative Development Corporation to engage in industrial goods activities and lets states extend funding. Since 2014, financial assistance from NCDC has jumped to about four lakh crore rupees, up from 45 thousand crore rupees until 2014. The sector currently boasts over eight lakh societies with around 30 crore members across India. Further, Tribhuvan Sahkari University will train about 17 lakh young people over the next five years.
