health π₯ Panel wants review of FDI in private hospitals
A parliamentary committee has recommended reviewing and rationalizing FDI limits in private hospitals to curb rising healthcare costs. The committee, led by SP Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav, presented its 176th report on healthcare affordability. It noted that private hospital stays averaged βΉ50,508 versus βΉ6,631 in government hospitals. The report urges directing foreign capital towards medical manufacturing, not just hospital operations. It also suggests increasing bed reservations for BPL, EWS, and AB-PMJAY beneficiaries to 20%.
