health π Pan masala packaging shifts away from plastic
The FSSAI has mandated a shift to plastic-free packaging for pan masala products. This new rule applies to manufacturers across India, specifying allowed materials for packaging. The changes were officially notified via the Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Amendment Regulations, 2026, on August 10th. Manufacturers must now use paper, paperboard, cellulose, tin, or glass, excluding plastic and metallised layers. These stringent regulations take effect from the date of the official Gazette publication. π«
