π Palakkad rail division split sparks protests
Protests intensified on Monday against the Railway Board's decision to transfer the Mangaluru-Ullal section from Palakkad to Mysuru division. The DYFI held a protest march to the DRM office in Olavakkode, initiated by CPI(M) district secretary E.N. Suresh Babu. Protesters blocked the four gates, leading to scuffles with police and Railway Protection Force personnel. DYFI state secretary M. Vijin confirmed continued agitation until the decision is withdrawn. Further protests are planned for Tuesday, and the UDF announced a hunger strike for Wednesday.
