The Odisha government has declined demands from the BJD and Congress for a special Assembly session regarding the MMDR Amendment Bill. This legislative issue will now be debated during the upcoming monsoon session, according to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling. The demand was raised by Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik and Congress Legislature Party leader Ram Chandra Kadam on Sunday. Both parties labelled the proposed mining legislation as harmful and "anti-Odisha" to the state's interests. Opposition parties plan demonstrations as the bill proceeds without an immediate special review. π
