The flood situation in Odisha's northern districts has worsened due to depression-induced heavy rainfall on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed the situation after visiting marooned villages in Jajpur and Bhadrak districts. Currently, 9.40 lakh people are affected, and the state government has evacuated 3.30 lakh of them. IMD forecasts more very heavy rainfall in Sundergarh and Jharsuguda, issuing orange and yellow warnings.
