❤️ New universal heart attack definition drops
Four major cardiac societies have developed and published a universal definition for myocardial infarction (MI). This update comes from the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Heart Association (AHA), and World Heart Federation (WHF). The new system, which addresses previous inconsistencies, will be presented at ESC Congress 2026 on August 30th. The classification now considers three settings: primary, secondary, and procedure-related MI, simplifying patient discussions. Furthermore, this definition aligns with ICD coding for better global health monitoring. 🩺
