π¬ New paper shows spin dynamics in magnetic films
Researchers investigated the effect of interfacial exchange coupling on the ferromagnetic resonance of IrMn3/NiFe bilayers. The study focused on how effective magnetization changed as the IrMn3 layer thickness varied between 0 and 4.5 nm. They observed a 4% enhancement in effective magnetization when AF ordering formed in IrMn3. This effect is explained by the hybridization of NiFe's FMR mode with IrMn3's fundamental mode. These findings establish effective magnetization as a key tool for probing AF spin excitations.
