๐ฌ New paper explores spin interactions in materials
Indirect long-range interactions between magnetic moments are studied in materials. Researchers looked into phonon-mediated interactions in localized magnetic moments within insulators and semiconductors. The study demonstrated that symmetric anisotropic interactions exist for all phonons, but anti-symmetric ones require broken inversion symmetry. This mechanism could explain the weak ferromagnetic order seen in chiral compounds like CuO and CoO. The interaction shows oscillatory power law decay with inter-atomic distance.
