science ๐ช New Martian Rock Fills Old Age Gap
A dark green Martian meteorite, Northwest Africa 13441, was recently dated to 1,273 million years old. This finding comes from the rock found near Rafsa in Algeria. The dating was published in the August 2026 issue of Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta. This stone is the first shergottite reported in the 600-to-2.4 billion-year interval. The discovery suggests the existing sample of Martian rocks was not fully representative of Mars's past activity. ๐ช
