science ☄️ New Mars Meteorite is Over a Billion Years Old
Scientists have dated a newly discovered Martian meteorite to be 1.27 billion years old. This sample came from a pristine, unsampled source on Mars and was analyzed by researchers from various institutions. The dating, published in Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, was performed using high-precision isotopic techniques. This discovery helps fill a massive gap in understanding Mars's geology, which previously lacked samples for that era. The research will continue with Dr. Seal during his postdoctoral fellowship starting in September.
