health π§ͺ New hope for bile acid diarrhea treatment
Bile acid diarrhea (BAD) is an often overlooked cause of chronic watery diarrhea that requires better treatment options. Research from Copenhagen highlighted that liraglutide helped two patients with BAD achieve remission in 2019. A 2022 trial involving 52 patients showed liraglutide reduced stool frequency in 77% versus 50% on colesevelam. Clinicians are now exploring atorvastatin as another potential treatment for this condition. More real-world data is needed to solidify these promising new therapeutic avenues.
