health π©Ί New heart guidelines push for kidney checks for all patients
New European Society of Cardiology Guidelines now recommend testing all heart disease patients for kidney issues. This update was developed in collaboration with the European Renal Association, and will be presented at ESC Congress 2026 on August 29th. Estimates suggest around 100 million people in Europe have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), putting them at higher cardiovascular risk. The guidelines emphasize screening for CKD in CVD patients using blood and urine tests for better risk identification. Moving forward, early use of specific medications and better care coordination are key focuses.
