science π¬ New framework separates quantum decoherence causes
Researchers at The Australian National University developed a new framework to isolate quantum decoherence in matter-wave Bell interferometers. This work focuses on the Rarity-Tapster (RT) interferometer geometry, utilizing momentum-entangled atom pairs. The analysis shows that evaluating Bell correlation at zero path difference allows for a source-distribution-independent measurement. Furthermore, known differential decoherence channels are negligible for different mass atoms at current sensitivity levels. This paves the way for dual-species interferometers to probe mass-dependent physics beyond standard quantum mechanics. π¬
