science 🧬 New drug targets tough blood cancers via MYC and GSPT1
Researchers at MD Anderson Cancer Center discovered a new feedforward relationship between MYC and GSPT1 in various blood cancers. The experimental drug GT19630 was developed to disrupt this cycle in leukaemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. Preclinical tests on January 2024 showed strong anti-cancer activity, even against TP53-mutated disease. This mechanism also showed promise in overcoming resistance to venetoclax in AML. Further studies are needed to confirm the safety and efficacy of this approach in patients.
