๐ฉบ New drug cuts inflammation markers in kidney disease
Pacibekitug, a monoclonal antibody targeting IL-6, showed sustained reductions in inflammatory markers during the TRANQUILITY trial. This study took place in Munich, Germany, involving 143 patients with chronic kidney disease at high inflammatory risk. The results, presented on August 29, 2026, showed significant decreases in hs-CRP across different dosing schedules. Inflammation is now known to heavily contribute to cardiovascular disease risk factors. The next step involves larger phase III trials to see if these biomarker changes improve patient outcomes. ๐ฉบ
